1. BulletIntroduction to patterns fitting workshop

  2. - Skirt -

This course is for the student that desires to not only make themselves a garment, but a garment that fits superbly.

This is the first class I recommend after having completed the Learn to sew course, if you wish to work with patterns and have them fit.

In this class, we take our measurements, select the correct pattern in our size,  make up the skirt pattern first, in Calico. This is known as a toile. This Toile is then altered to your choice of design, and fitted to your unique body shape. This class also introduces you to fit (how you like it on yourself) how patterns can and should be changed. I like to encourage the student to become their own designer.  We then put the necessary markings onto the toile to create your own road map for when we break it down to become your pattern. There is a wealth of information and ground work to discovery in this first class.

We start with the skirt first, the reason being that it gives you those basic skills in reading and altering a pattern without too many shapely changes to contend with for your first project.

I have had many students that do not wear skirts, start wearing them, as they now have a pattern that fits them, the way they like their skirts to fit. Unlike the “off the rack” skirts they have been unhappy with.

This is a 2 day workshop to obtain your toile, fitted and broken down as your pattern
